This week we celebrated seven years of Byfield Consultancy and the launch of our new website with a fantastic party at the Royal Court Theatre.
Joined by friends who have played a major part in our seven year history, we began the evening with drinks and canapés in the Balcony Bar of the Royal Court Theatre overlooking Sloane Square in the beautiful early evening sunshine.
The Royal Court Theatre is Britain’s leading national company dedicated to new work by innovative writers from the UK and around the world. Where many theatres shy away from new plays the Royal Court is pivotal in providing a home for new writers and new productions. We have been proud sponsors of the theatre for two years now.
After a speech by Richard Elsen and an introduction from assistant director Debbie Hannan, we took our seats for Birdland.
Birdland had already received rave reviews in the Guardian, Financial Times and Time Out and we were all excited to see it for ourselves.
We were not disappointed!
Simon Stephens’ new play is a dramatic and macabre interpretation of the effect mega-fame and the virtually limitless money that accompanies rock stardom can have on a person. Andrew Scott (Moriarty in the BBC’s Sherlock Holmes) brilliantly portrayed the damaged hero of the play and was supported by an excellent cast.
After the play there were further drinks and canapés plus a chance to mingle with the cast of the play who by that time had washed off the oil (you seriously need to see this play!). The revelries carried on well into the evening…
The event was a great opportunity to bring friends of Byfield together, both old and new, to celebrate all we have achieved so far and to thank them for their support; we wouldn’t be here without them! It also marks the launch of our rebrand and an exciting new stage in the Byfield story. Watch this space for what the next seven years will bring!
