Dehns is one of Europe’s largest firms of patent and trade mark attorneys with offices in London, Oxford, Brighton and Munich. The firm’s specialist practice groups serve clients across chemistry, pharmaceutical and chemical engineering; life sciences and biotechnology; engineering; physical sciences; electronics, IT and communications; designs; and trade marks.
Due to the highly specialist work of the firm, Dehns wanted a PR consultancy with significant experience in the legal field. Dehns appointed Byfield Consultancy to recommend and implement a media relations programme to promote the firm and the offerings of each practice group and specialist area. Within the first year of the PR programme, Byfield successfully secured over 50 pieces of editorial coverage across Dehns’ practice groups in the national, regional and specialist press.
Particular highlights of this coverage have included several articles in the Financial Times’ ‘Entrepreneur’ supplement in relation to patents and trade marks, an article in City AM on smartphone patent wars, a number of articles published in Managing Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property, and articles in key trade titles such as Pharmaceutical Business, The Engineer, Science Business, Chemistry & Industry, The Manufacturer, Growth Business and TechEye.
Additionally , Byfield has recently completed a series of ‘Working with the Media’ workshops across Dehns’ UK offices designed to introduce more of its people to PR and build upon the successes of the PR programme so far.
