“I gained a real insight into the way the court system works – the processes and pressures – when I completed the Bar Vocational Course and worked as an Advocate in the County Courts. It has given me an understanding of the stresses and complexities of litigation and an ability to speak my client’s language. That knowledge and sensitivity are really important to my role at Byfield – whether it is reading though court documents or communicating a complex legal message in an understandable way to a law firm’s target audience. The law is inherently interesting – it has a fundamental impact on all our lives – and I enjoy the involvement in the legal sector that my job provides.”

“The best part of my job is knowing that your work can, on occasions, lead to significant improvements in the way that people are treated. For example, I recently worked on one of the highest profile NHS ‘whistle-blower’ cases that resulted in a front page article on a national newspaper; as well as on some very interesting and emotive personal injury and clinical negligence cases. The resulting coverage has meant a great deal to the people involved, but it has also been instrumental in raising public awareness of important issues.”
